Psychotherapy

What is therapy?

Therapy offers you a safe, confidential place to talk about your life and anything that may be confusing, painful or uncomfortable. As your therapist I will work at creating the right environment in which you are able to do this, which will allow you to develop a greater understanding of your own thoughts, feelings and meanings. I am not there to analyse you or give advice, but instead to be along side you, support you and help you to explore and make sense of your own issues. This will enable you to find your own 'answers' and find your own way forward.

How will it make me feel?

It's a very personal process where sometimes it is necessary to talk about painful feelings or life events that have hurt you, so it can be emotionally draining, however I will make sure you don't become overwhelmed. Quite often I use relaxation techniques to "calm" the mind. In the long-run you should have a better understanding of yourself and be more resilient. You should feel stronger and able to cope better with life's ups and downs.

Will it work for me?

It works for a lot of people, especially if you are able to really open up and talk about things you've maybe never spoken to anyone about. Talking about very personal and often painful things can sometimes be difficult but I will do my best to make sure you are safe and go at a pace that suits you. It can really give you clarity and help understand who you are and what you really need from life. It can be incredibly empowering. It can totally transform your life.
